** John's Part 4 (Metaphorical) Solution **
This webpage describes the John's Metaphorical solution to Part 4 of the Kryptos
sculpture... In my opinion, it is the closest approach so far to an actual
solution to Kryptos Part 4, in that it incorporates the majority of clues
designed into the sculpture and the surrounding pieces, as well as interpreting
the Morse Code segments.

Basically, in John's opinion, Kryptos is an elaborate metaphorical puzzle. There is multiple use of all
clues, hints, and keywords. Ultimately, it is both a virtual crypt - qua Kryptos - and a
virtual hieroglyphic scroll, the inner code mirroring the outer structure (a
scroll). Begin by
treating section 3 as instructions for decoding section 4... by following
the instructions, we are virtually recreating the opening of King Tut's
tomb.
However, according to Sanborn, there may be more...

This is exactly the way that an M-94 Cipher Cylinder works. Image the text
above wrapped around a cylinder, with each row freely movable. From above,
reading R-to-L, there is a single M at pos 94 in K4.

perhaps it just makes the rows shift, like seeing through a flickering flame...and
the AIR has escaped...
Note that "SSO", or "SOS" is next to the tiny breach now, as in the
real sculpture...

and TUT is "in the crypt". Also, if the ? means "can you see

Now, how did I know that the superscript characters were indicating the opening
to the passageway to the tomb?
"HEAD" in rubble blocking passageway:
"A painted wooden head of Tutankhamun emerging
from a lotus flower was found among the rubble blocking the passage to the tomb.
It shows Tutankhamun appearing as the sun god (Re) did at the time of creation
from a lotus floating on the waters of the primordial ocean. It combines the
idea of creation with the king's recreation." If you look at encoded
Sec. 3, you can see this! Remember, W=U in Egyptian transliteration. There is
the vertical word HEAD "blocking the passageway" in the DYAHR
in the encoded version of section 3. This is a symbolic use of what is otherwise
a straightforward code. This symbolic/digital HEAD is next to the letters for
"LOTUS" and "TUT/TWT", as well as "RE / RA". I believe
that these letter placements were intentional, and part of a
"dual-purpose" code by Sanborn. You can find this information referred
to by a "source" document, Ancient Egypt - Lorna Oakes & Lucia
Gahlin, which seems to describe many of the items in sections 3 and 4. Tut's

The Morse Code segments finally mean something:

However, for me, there are just too many coincidental things for this solution to be wrong... It
just ties together so perfectly, beautifully, and artistically...
As a cryptographic adventurer and a programmer myself, I have definitely discovered a
beautifully written piece of code. If this is the built-in dead-end, then it is truly elaborate.
Also, looking back on the hints that Jim has given over the years, it is about
at this time that he started saying that he wasn't truthful with the CIA about
giving them the final solution. Why should he start saying that now? If
this is not the solution, he can just say so and stick with the same story that
he has been telling for years...
