Antipodes / Covert Balance / Kryptos II was designed by sculptor James Sanborn, the same person who created Kryptos at CIA Headquarters.
My interest is in the relation of Antipodes to the Cyrillic Projector and to Kryptos, and whether there are any clues in this sculpture which relate to the final solution of Kryptos.

A few notes: Antipodes is a sculpture which combines the text from Kryptos and the Cyrillic Projector + extra. Some of its names are Antipodes, Covert Balance, Secrets Past, Untitled Kryptos, & Kryptos II.  Hirshhorn Antipodes/Covert Balance pics & info here. Untitled Kryptos pics here. This pairing of polar opposites is intriguing, especially since the keyword of the Cyrillic Projector is "shadow". This leads me to think that one of the keywords for Kryptos will be some sort of "light" word, such as "candle". Also using the light/shadow metaphor, the Cyrillic Projector is lighted from within, and "dark" or clouded by encrypted text. If Kryptos is the opposite, then it is metaphorically "dark" on the inside and needs to be "lighted" in order to solve it. Otherwise, the sculptures are all quite similar in materials used, style, multiple messages, and encoding methods. The Cyrillic Projector, with most of the text, was partially solved by a couple people working independently, and then Elonka's International Kryptos group (primarily Elonka) did the rest, including the full decryption of the Cyrillic side of Antipodes. Interesting questions related to Kryptos: Sanborn does not use the full Russian Cyrillic alphabet, the Cyrillic umlaut E (Ё) is missing. Why? Sanborn moved the Cyrillic W from its normal position, and placed it next to the Cyrillic X in the cipher-alphabet. Why? The positioning of the text is different from Kryptos. Kryptos goes K1-->K2-->K3-->K4 Antipodes goes K3-->K4-->*Extra space*-->K1-->K2-->K3-->K4-->*No extra space*-->K1-->K2 Antipodes has both the anomalous extra space, and two extra dots, near the center of the text. The word UNDERGROUND is not misspelled on the Kryptos side. Note that the "tiny breach", the extra space, is positioned just to the NE of "RQ", perhaps referring to the Morse code message. Also, SSO has been placed under the ? in both places. This is next to where the ?="tiny breach" is. By correctly coding the word for UNDERGROUND, the coding letters CETB are now an anagram for CBET, the Russian word for "light". This sequence is immediately after a "Q" - Again, we a need a light for the "underground illusion".

When Lewis and Clark were preparing for their historic journey, Thomas
Jefferson provided Meriwether Lewis with an encryption system which
was essentially a Vigenere table. The agreed-upon keyword was
'artichoke' but in his letter to Lewis, Jefferson described the system
and provided an example using the keyword 'antipodes.' 

That Sanborn titled his sculpture 'Antipodes' is either an incredible
coincidence or the man really does his homework. I suspect the latter.

And maybe it's a clue.

Cyrillic Projector Pics

The Cyrillic Projector encrypted message is composed of two sections. It uses the same type Vigenère encoding and keywords for both sections.
The 1st KeyWord is ТЕНЬ, the Russian word for "shadow / shade". This creates the cipher-alphabet.
The 2nd KeyWord is ЙБАСГТ, which is meaningless as far as I know. It is derived from the clue word MEDUSA, found in the sculpture.

Antipodes is a separate sculpture that includes the entire text of Kryptos, with some repetition, on one side, and the entire text of the Cyrillic Projector, plus some additional new text, on the other side.  As can be seen below, the new text is the continuation of the 2nd message that was on the Cyrillic Projector. Thus, the transcript of the Cyrillic side of Antipodes would be all of the Cyrillic text above. It uses the exact same encoding and keywords as the Cyrillic Projector.
