Panel by panel
Press V. The reader finds the gutters on each page, works out the panels and their reading order, then zooms to one panel at a time — every page turn, tap or swipe steps to the next panel and moves on to the next page when the last one is done. This is what makes a phone screen usable for a full-size scan.
Reading order follows the manga setting, so right-to-left pages are guided right-to-left. A full-bleed page with no gutters to find is simply shown whole, and the counter tells you which panel you are on.
Library
Press A or the Library button. Every comic you open is remembered with its cover, page count and how far you got, and the card reopens it there. Add a folder takes a whole shelf at once and keeps the folder with it, so ] and [ move to the next and previous issue without going back to the picker.
Reopening in one click needs a lasting file reference, which today only Chrome and Edge on the desktop will give a local page. Elsewhere a card still keeps your cover and your place, but asks you to point at the file again. Nothing is uploaded either way — the reference and the cover live in this browser.
Magnifier
Press L or the lens button, then move the pointer over the page — drag a finger on a touchscreen, where the lens rides above your fingertip so you can see what it is over. It magnifies whatever is actually rendered, so trimmed borders, split halves and any image adjustments all carry through. Size and magnification are under Settings.
Auto-levels
Old newsprint scans often never reach true black or white, which reads as a grey haze. Auto-levels measures each page’s real tonal range, ignoring dust and highlights, and stretches it to fill. Pages already using the full range are left untouched, so it is safe to leave on.
Scaling quality
Settings offers three scalers. Browser is the default. High hands the work to the browser’s good resampler. Lanczos 3 resamples every page in this page’s own code at exactly the size it is displayed — sharper line work and no aliasing on shrunk scans. It runs after the page appears, so turning pages never waits on it, and it only ever shrinks: a page smaller than your window is left alone.
ComicInfo.xml
If the archive carries one, it is read for series and credits, for pages tagged as double-page spreads or covers, and for right-to-left reading. Tagged spreads pair correctly instead of being guessed from their shape. What was found shows under Bookmarks.
Slideshow
The play button in the toolbar starts and stops it, and so does S. Set the delay under Settings → Slideshow; changing it while running takes effect straight away.
Touch
Tap the left or right edge to turn a page — the sides swap when you're reading right-to-left. Tap the middle to show or hide the bars. Swipe sideways to turn pages, pinch to zoom, drag to pan once you're zoomed in. Pinching zooms toward the point between your fingers rather than the middle of the page, and sliding both fingers pans while you do it — turn that off under Settings if you would rather it always worked from the centre. On a desktop, Ctrl and the wheel zoom at the pointer. Double-tap toggles fit-page and fit-width, or returns you to fit when you are zoomed in.
What opens
.cbz / .zip reads natively, straight from the file — big archives never load into memory whole, and each page is checked against the archive’s own checksum. .cbt / .tar reads natively too, gzipped or not, including long paths. .cbr / .rar reads natively when the pages are stored uncompressed (common for comics); if the archive is compressed, the reader offers to fetch a RAR decoder once, and a multi-volume set is reported rather than shown half-read. .cb7 / .7z reads natively too, including LZMA and LZMA2 blocks; only BZip2, PPMd and encrypted archives are turned away. A folder of images works too, and so does any pile of image files you select at once.
Privacy
Everything runs in this page. No file ever leaves your device, apart from the optional one-time RAR decoder download.
